![]() "Purple Jean" - mixed media on aquabord, 5" x 7" I have a friend I've never really met. And yet I feel so at home with her! You know what I mean - the kind of friend you might not chat with for four months, and then one Facebook message and you pick up right where you left off, like no time has elapsed? Jean is one of those people. And she loves the color purple, which called to the artist in me right away. Technology is not always the thing which gets in the way of real human contact. In this case, technology is the entire reason I have a friendship with this amazing lady. Our relationship is built entirely on email, Facebook and web-based entrepreneurship. Thanks to technology, I get to glimpse her daily life, her kids' lives and the food she eats. It's almost like having a daily chat to say "how was your day? what did you have for lunch?" except we never actually chat. What makes this friendship truly ironic is I met Jean through another fantastic lady, Ann, who is not connected on social media at all! So basically, my friend whom I have actually spent time with in person introduced me to the friend I have never actually met. And somehow it all makes complete sense at the end of the day. Recently, Jean posted a new profile picture which exuded her lovely personality. I just had to paint her! Now you might be wondering what all this has to do with my theme for the monthly challenge ("uncertainty"), and honestly, I haven't a clue. But isn't that a form of uncertainty? The irony suits this day perfectly. This piece is available, unframed. Inquiries: imajenation@gmail.com Follow the 30 in 30 challenge at http://30paintingsin30days.weebly.com/
