"Always and Forever" - acrylic on canvas paper, 12" x 16"

Day six and more fun channeling Basquiat and his amazing raw energy.  This piece will be a gift for my sweetie (shhhhh!  Don't tell!) for our upcoming anniversary on Valentine's day.   Yes, we are one of those syrupy sweet couples who believes the whole world celebrates our anniversary on February 14th (you do, don't you???)  It is also a great way to make sure neither of you ever forgets and ends up on the dog house...

It isn't a "big" anniversary or anything (eighteen years, not ten or twenty-five or fifty) and yet is is a special one for us.  My husband is a numbers guy.  Numbers have special meaning for him, particularly anything with the number three.  HIs baseball jersey number was 12 (one and two equals three) and his birthday is the sixth month and the third day.  So threes or multiples thereof appearing everywhere for him.  Our eighteenth anniversary is a nine (one plus eight) and also two nines (nine times two) which is a whole bunch of threes.  That makes it extra special for a numbers guy, while I am exhausted just running through the variety of ways the numbers are meaningful!

So this got me to thinking...what does the number nine signify?

Considered the most evolved number in numerology, it contains all of the qualities of the other numbers.  It is the number of global consciousness, humanitarianism and non-judgment..  Nine represents the completion of a cycle, and is followed by one, the beginning of a new era. This is all quite interesting given we relocated to a new state six months ago, and our youngest child left the nest.  A new era for sure. Nine also signifies the ability to see clearly, to understand and to integrate the physical, intellectual and spiritual.  Artistry (yay!) is also a component of the number nine.

One final interesting aspect of the number nine is its numeric equivalent is the letter R, which happens to be the first letter in my sweetheart's name (everybody say awwwwwwww!)

Here's the blue wild, where
tiny dreamers ride beasts, speak
 birdsong, hold the moon.
