![]() "Be Nice to You" - mixed media on aquabord, 11" x 14" Today I worked on a paint-over (no, not yesterdays dazzling pony!) A piece I made about a year ago which I never took out of the studio pile, because it didn't make my heart sing. I turned it upside down and all around, and eventually found another playmate inside the shapes and shadows! We all have internal chatter. A thought process which may or may not be uplifting and helpful. Lately my inner chat has been a bit of a downer, and I decided to take matters in hand. The savvy activist in this painting reminds us to be nice to ourselves..and this means the things we say to ourselves and about ourselves inside as well. There was a question I read somewhere long ago which asked: "Would you let others speak to you the way you speak to yourself?" And after I gave it some thought, I was a bit horrified at how mean I was being to myself! I am my own worst bully! By speaking to ourselves in a kind and compassionate voice, we pave the way for happiness, success and joy! Why wasn't I doing that? So I have added to my playground studio here an activist to make sure I play nicely and treat myself as I wish others would treat me. Perhaps this is a no-brainer for many of you reading this blog? This piece is available, unframed. Inquiries: imajenation@gmail.com Follow the 30 in 30 challenge at http://30paintingsin30days.weebly.com/
