Lola Jovan
sparkle seeker
explorations of the ineffable

Here you are, seeing me as I work to see, feel and capture a thing (a place, a mood, a person, a thin strand of thought),  to interpret it in such a way to reach through the painting and into you.

I'm creating filaments of connection, interwoven emotions, common experiences, magnifying glasses and telescopes, tin cans on strings, ears against the wall, eyes against the peephole.

There are hits and misses, epiphanies and utter failures.  When a painting reaches into you and grabs something in your heart, your memories, your hopes or  fears and causes a slight tremor  -  it is then a sublime success.

Those successes, those moment of connection and seeing, send me scurrying back to the paint  to begin again, like a busy spider, weaving, tearing down, reweaving.

Here's the blue wild, where
tiny dreamers ride beasts, speak
 birdsong, hold the moon.
