Seated Pink Moose

"Seated Pink Moose" - mixed media on cradled wood, 24" x 12". Ready to hang.  Available here and at Artfinder.

Blame it on contemporary architecture.

Those audacious buildings that appear to deny engineering principals and push boundaries on a massive scale.  And an art challenge inspired by the Elbphilharmonie, in which one building was mashed atop another.

The teacher said, "your homework is to put something on top of something else in a way that is unexpected or out of the norm.  A mash-up, if you will."

You'd think I would have gone crazy
with this challenge.  But no, my mind went right to Matisse's "Seated Pink Nude" except I saw a moose on a chair.  This, sports fans, is why (well, one reason why) I am not a contemporary architect. :)

But I love this moose in all his pink glory.  And that he appears to feel quite awkward.  Which any of us might be, sitting naked on a chair.   Pongo was quite relieved I didn't ask HIM to pose for this.

And so, sports fans, let's distract ourselves from hurricane weather watching with a little moose adorableness:

Jen, you've outdone yourself! I'm so amoosed and delighted by where your thoughts and brush turn, and I think Carl's idea about a calendar is terrific!

Wow what a wonderful idea! Guess this was her first session at modeling! Maybe Croquis Cafe will hire her! Oh those antlers!

Ha ha! There is a future in moose modeling, I've heard! Gotta love gelli prints. They make everything (even antlers) more fun!
