Ba de ya, say that you remember

Ba de ya, dancing in September
Ba de ya, never was a cloudy day
            - Earth, Wind & Fire - September

Holy cow, summer has come and gone - at least on the calendar.  Here in SoFlo, summer rages on as we slide on into the season of moist blobs in the ocean promising tropical storms and hurricanes to come.

But when the calendar turns to September, I am filled with thoughts of fall.  Give me crisp nights and mornings, turning leaves and the last harvest from the garden.  I watch the forecast in our future town of Portland, Oregon providing exactly the September I dream of.  Yay.

Here in the studio there are a few more paint-overs.  This one knocked my socks off!  Following the paint, layer upon layer and there she was.  I see in her a reminder of how messy it is being human, and how tender the spirit can be in the midst of all that muck.
There's a new woman in my husband's life.  Her name is Alexa.  She responds to the sound of his voice, never nags him and fills his office with music all day.  I was unsure at first about how this arrangement would work out, but Ron spends a lot more time singing these days.  It's a happy sound, so I suppose we'll keep Alexa for the time being.  If she asks for her own drawer in the bathroom, however, we're gonna have to let her go. :)

<------------- Alexa recommends this song to start the month

Thanks, Alexa. Good choice!

Jen—messy, tender journey. Yes, that it is. And how magnificently you've captured the poignancy in paint. Ba de ya!

Nice post Jen. I’m in NY briefly before we return to Florida on Wednesday. We had a lovely week of cool nights on the Cape. I’m looking forward to pushing some paint around on my return.

Carl! How glorious that you had a little taste of fall before coming back to the soggy humidity!

I'm a Midwesterner, and September means that crisp smell ... and I'm very glad August is over!

Nick! I am so envious....September in the midwest is completely magical. Pumpkin patches and apple cider, leaf piles and long shadows. Yum.

I just got up from a lazy Memorial Day nap. I am totally confused by this post.
I only understand messy!
