Only one week to go.
Let's chase the setting sun.

Stone, mud, bones.
Read the names.
Listen.

Rooks watch the setting sun
from treetops
night is falling
Silent shadow angels
sentinels
hark and hush

The names!  The names!
Long gone
eroded
crumbled
shrouded

The sun is gone
but light remains
we remember, we remember
the flickers whisper

Sadness here,
yet comfort
lay your weary bones to rest
while we remember.

On this, the  first holiday since the passing of our dad, the first Christmas without parents at all, there is comfort - comfort and joy - in the gathering of the sisters in a land far away.  New memories, new moments, washed in remembering, made holy.

Holidays are so difficult when you remember your passed loved ones!
What a beautiful poem that expresses those deep feelings yet allows you to celebrate the holidays. Love following you on your journey even to a crumbling graveyard. Love your new abstract, cold wild Atlantic!
We are having a touch of summer....sadly.... 23C

Beautifully worded my dear poet / artist. Pictures say a thousand words and the right words are music to the eyes!

Happy to see the Family gathered there around you - we here are there in spirit!

Powerful post. I remember vividly standing in a graveyard in Connecticut at probably age 20 and first understanding deep in my bones and heart the lives represented by those stones in that holy space.

"Wild Atlantic" is flat out EXQUISITE! Though not flat, ya know?

Here's the blue wild, where
tiny dreamers ride beasts, speak
