Buttercup: My Westley will always come for me.

from The Princess Bride

Oh Buttercup!  You are the perfect speaker for today, Valentine's Day!  And the perfect name for this whimsical duo, which was part of the Miami Watercolor Society demo last weekend and just now completed.  This Buttercup and her little bird, Westley, make me smile.  Don't we all need an adoring Westley in our lives?

Valentine's Day is particularly special in the Walls household, where it happens to be our wedding anniversary.  And not just any anniversary, but number twenty. :)  Thank you, sweet hubby, for an adventurous two decades!  There were no pirates involved, but there was a fire swamp of sorts, except it was fire coral on a kayaking excursion where we both tried to be the leader.  We knew from then on that there were going to be two strong personalities in this partnership.  And that has turned out to be an understatement.

But when on a lifelong adventure, it is grand to have a strong partner.

As the grandson  in The Princess Bride would say, enough of the mushy stuff.

Have you seen the Jerry Seinfeld series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee?  My latest binge-worthy obsession while obsessively needle felting new creatures.  An obsession obsession, so to speak.
Except I have this dream of a show for the rest of us creative types, Artists on Amtrak Eating Appetizers.  We probably wouldn't be as entertaining as Seinfeld's guests, but we might leave a trail of art across America.  So I ask you, dear reader, if you were invited on this cross-country adventure, where would travel to leave your artistic stamp on the country, and what appetizers would you  wish for?

Look at that heart in Buttercup's face! Perfect!

Jen, fun to have you show your paintings in a context in the email notification I receive. I love the reminder that while a painting may have what we read as an identifiable image—say, for an example, an image of Buttercup and her sweet bird Westley, it is also 'no more than' color and shape, color and shape that can bring a space to magnificent life.

When does the first train leave?

Dotty! Happy Valentine's Day! Thanks for enjoying the in context images. Sometimes it's fun to shake things up, right? And yes, color and shape. That's all we do and that's all it is, really. But what fun they are in the right space!!

The painting was really beautiful, I must say! There are so many colors that I see, and I am honored to know the story behind this painting. "Buttercup and Westley” might not be the most impressive art you will ever see, but it has a uniqueness that will definitely please you. I realized that Valentines day is weeks away from now. This is making me super excited because i am sure that a lot of lovers wills try to celebrate it together. This is a good thing. I am hoping that they will put several twists on their celebration!
