"Marvin the Majestic" - acrylic on reclaimed wood, 7 x 18 x .5 , ready to hang.

Earlier this month I painted a reindeer.  Which prompted a discussion about horned totem animals, which revealed the mighty elk as the favorite of a friend.  Which made me curious about the elk, and then led to Marvin appearing in the studio.  Everyone, meet Marvin.  Marvin, this is everyone.

What wisdom does this quirky beast have for us today?  The elk symbolizes a time of plenty, strength and empowerment.  Those with an elk totem are able to achieve their goals with ease, and have a natural ability to pace themselves - they may not be the first to arrive, but they also won't be burned out when they get there.

People with the elk as a spirit animal are said to have ties in past lives to royalty.  The majesty of the elk, who appears to demand respect and adoration, is symbolic of this regal past.  Those who fully develop elk energy will have a strong self-image and confidence in every situation.

The appearance of an elk in your life can mean transformation is on the horizon requiring stamina and strength.  This is when the natural pacing ability of people with this totem becomes vital to prevent exhaustion.

Elk are not solitary creatures, and those with this spirit animal drawn to close-knit groups and often desire the company of others.  If the elk has appeared to you, it can be a sign to reach out for support from others, and the reassurance that you don't need to handle challenging times alone.
Here in the studio, Marvin the elk and Herbert the reindeer are hanging out with Sparky the donkey and a trio of cows.  There is definitely a close-knit group in here, and none of them will admit to eating the last of the ginger snaps.

Here's the blue wild, where
tiny dreamers ride beasts, speak
 birdsong, hold the moon.
