Voice: [distant] Stand your ground, men, stand your ground!
[scene: outside the castle gate]
Stand your ground!
Fezzik: I am the dread pirate Roberts! There will be no survivors!
Inigo: Now?
Westley: Not yet.
Fezzik: Many are here, I am here. But soon, you will not be here.
Inigo: Now?
Westley: Light him.
Fezzik: The dread pirate Roberts takes no survivors! All your worst nightmares are about to come true!
          from The Princess Bride

In this scene, a whole bunch of smoke and mirrors, along with the fearsome name of Dread Pirate Roberts, helps our heroes rush in to save the day, despite injuries and, well, Westley still coming back from near death.

Don't you wish you had Fezzik to follow you through your daily adventures?  A good-natured giant with a willingness to do just about anything.  We all need a Fezzik.

My husband is Fezzik-like.  When we walk past piles of bulk trash, he will jump in and pull out wood and haul it home for me.  We recently found a treasure-trove of new boards.  The garage is piled high with potential paintings!   A good thing, with festival season ramping up and inventory running low.

This piece was inspired by one of the fearsome singers in Gestalt A Capella.  They all look so serious in their photo shoots, almost like the Dread Pirate A Capella singers.  Anyway, she is a vocal force, and a beauty to boot.

So, dear reader, if you'll indulge a proud a cappella mom for a minute, here is Katie and all the other pirates (including lead vocalist Jon Walls) singing "Selah":

Katie's hair—love your magical use of color, value, shape, and texture here! And that serious, Dread Pirate eye gaze and face! Huzzah!

AND, thanks for the Gestalt clip—GO, JON WALLS!

I am compelled by her intense eyes and tear like star! Love the repetition of the star in the sky, hair, shoulders, and face. She is indeed a star!

Thank you, Carol! Katie asked me to paint her many months ago...but recently the group did a photo shoot where they were painted with gold markings, and KABAM! I was inspired.

Here's the blue wild, where
tiny dreamers ride beasts, speak
 birdsong, hold the moon.
