About the art: beginning with a colored-pencil sketch on gesso'd wood, adding layers upon layers and watching her personality emerge. A little sprinkling of gold leaf on the horn, and a tidying layer of paint.

Boy do I need an inner unicorn. Another artist I know today called my work cute…. Uggghhh I wanted to take my marbles and go home. Then I took a deep breathe and realized it was not about me or my work just the other artists need to feel bigger than. So I let it go and went back to painting.

Carl! My art has been called cute (and some of it is) but also creepy, weird, peculiar, etc. One artist even called it "not art". My goal is now to collect all the words ! ha!

Oh! the depth of inelegant humanness (or unicornness, in this case) in that face, in those eyes, in that set of chin, line of lips, tilt of head. oh. oh. oh.

"one who believes in me and thinks I am the most magical of rare beings?" YOU ARE! And don't let an unicorn or other tell you otherwise. So there!
