"Summation of Dreams" - mixed media on canvas paper,  16" x 12".  Ready to frame.  Available on Artfinder.

I've been having some wild dreams lately.  The kind of dreams that make me wonder what the heck my brain is doing in there.  Apparently the muse stays active even during sleep, and she is quite inventive.  So I let the dreams flow through my hands into an intuitive piece this week.   Incredible, ethereal landscape created by scrubbing away layers of paint, leaving suggestions of buildings, hills and a metropolis.  Adding and taking away, time and again, leaves the canvas paper leathery and soft.  I am enchanted by this process.

My hubby and I had a Valenversary evening right out of a sitcom last night.  Complete with eerie technology snafus, which included a smoke alarm going off randomly for several hours (and the two of trying desperately to disconnect it) and followed by the most awful meal we've had in ages.  One thing after another until we were both laughing pretty uncontrollably.  Even during a long night of belly aches, we continued to roll our eyes and laugh at the universe, who had apparently decided to throw the kitchen sink at us.

I suppose that's what we want, at the end of nearly two decades.  The ability to laugh at life's adversities and wake up smiling.

Fortunately, my daughter called and reminded us of an anniversary long ago, when we danced in the living room and snow began to fall softly outside (in Texas, no less), making her believe marriage was magical.  Indeed, it is.  And comical.

I don't think there will be any snow falling here in Florida today, but the balmy breeze and swaying palm trees will do.  Now where did I leave that bottle of Tums?

Your dreams are my diversion. I was JUST about to tackle some tasks that require initiative (MY initiative, for Pete's sake), tasks that don't particularly float my boat, and then came along your post, with a painting and stories, so NOW I can sit down and have a gab with you instead of … what was that other thing I had to do? I forget.

Summation of Dreams is quite delightful! Like you, I've been having an active dream life of late that leaves me wondering about that brain of mine. What are dreams if not soft leathery layered suggestions and incredible ethereal scrubbed enchantments? What tool did you use here to scrub/take away layers?

So sweet, the magic and comedy of marriage.

What was dinner?

ha ha! So happy to be a diversion for your Wednesday morning. :) I wonder if there is something in the atmosphere causing these dreams of yours and mine? The full moon is over...

Scrubbed away with a damp, soft cloth and elbow grease. Like polishing wood, it became prettier the more a rubbed.

Dinner was meant to be simple...grilled burgers and vegies. Something happened with the stove - burgers ended up raw inside, vegies woody and tough. There was literally nothing to eat except the condiments and some sliced avocado. We returned the burgers to the grill twice...and nope, not cooked!!!!

Sounds like your burgers made for a better story than a Valentine's dinner, but they DO make a fabulous story. I'm laughing all over again.

Oh, regular old fashioned scrubbing. Way cool.

Where did the arcs/'hilltops' come from?

good question on the arcs....had to go look at the painting and recall the process (so many layers!) At one point early on, after charcoal, I was scraping with a catalyst wedge. Those are underlayers of arcs of paint left behind by the wedge. Neat, huh?

Yes, really like those arcs. I could tell they were left behind by SOMEthing, and now I know what! Had to look up what catalyst wedges are but immediately recognized them when I saw them; just didn't know what they were called. Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall when marketing or design people come up with these names?!

ha ha! I WOULD love that! Better yet, I'd like to be on the naming team. There are better names for this piece of rubbery plastic than that. :)

Diversion on Thursday before shopping. I love visiting your blog cause I love the stories and of course the art work. Love all the textures and tool marks. I see faces and parts of faces probably part of the dream.
Dream on!

Oh! I love to provide a diversion! :) Thank you, Carol...and I think you are right. Faces and parts of faces from the dreams. Our minds are interesting places to wander through!

Here's the blue wild, where
tiny dreamers ride beasts, speak
